The aim of this book is to provide an overview of the various struggles fought by different generations since the Socialist Youth International (SYI), now known as the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY), was founded in 1907. This publication can be best described as the outcome of a truly international project filled with life by 28 authors from 13 different countries and five continents. As a collection of "mosaic pieces" contributed mainly by veterans who promoted IUSY in their respective decade, the book reflects a personalised centennial history of the international socialist youth movement. Several actors in today's world political scene, like the current chairman of the Israeli Meretz Party Yossi Beilin an the incumbent Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer, have understood and used this book as a forum to look back at their political roots.
